As women, we spend so much time and money applying and purchasing beauty products and makeup. Most of this becomes an attempt to cover up and "fix" perceived flaws. What if we changed our beauty regimen to start from the inside out? Eating certain healthy foods can make you more beautiful on the outside!
Choose your foods wisely. It is a fact that the healthier you are, the better you will look. Your ideal healthy state is vibrant, glowing skin, hair and nails. But many of the foods and products that we use today are loaded with preservatives and chemicals that can strip us from our natural radiance.
First start thinking natural, whole and organic. Does the food in your house last in its packaging for months on end and never go bad? Would you great-grandmother recognize it as food? If what you are putting in your body, never goes bad, it most likely is loaded with salt and preservatives and can't make you beautiful.
When choosing foods, try thinking of things you could pick, gather or catch. Fresh fruit and vegetables straight from the earth are the best choices because they are pure and natural and loaded with nutrients. Your body needs these nutrients for a fully functioning immune system and to create radiant skin, hair and nails. Think fresh wild seafood and organic free range meat if you are not a vegetarian. A balanced healthy diet is key to achieving good health, which in turn, makes you more beautiful.
Ease up on the sugar. We have all been hearing about how bad sugar is for you and for good reason. Sugar and refined carbohydrates can cause skin inflammation and free radicals which can lead to wrinkles and health problems. Sugar can repress the immune system, cause weight gain, low energy and brittle, dry hair and nails.
Eat your Omega 3's Please! The jury is in that these essential fatty acids are key to getting youthful and healthy skin, hair and nails. So eat foods like salmon, walnuts, flaxseeds and soybeans and see a reduction in acne, skin inflammation, and dry, scaly skin.
Get your intake of polyphenols. Polyphenols are antioxidants found in olive oil, dark chocolate, green tea, red wine and honey, and have been shown to reduce inflammation and assist in the creation of beautiful, glowing skin (not to mention these are all yummy food sources).
Eat foods with betacarotene. This antioxidant is converted into vitamin A in the body and helps protect from free radical damage that leads to aging. Eat sweet potatoes, spinach, kiwi and tomatoes for lovely skin.
Remember to keep a wide variety in your diet and don't completely deprive yourself of anything or you may begin to crave it. It is also important to manage stress to keep your immune system healthy so your body can fight disease and keep your digestion working properly.
